Biography
Ceramic Artist Daniela Petosa is best known for her modern home decor objects and timeless ceramic tile designs. Living in Tofino Canada, on Vancouver Island's far Westcoast Daniela is strongly influenced by the wild coastal landscape. Her style captures the energy and movement of the west coast shoreline. Birds in flight, moving water, textured sand, wind, floating seaweed are all themes in her collections. Her fascination with movement is evident in her use of repetition through fluid lines and recurring tile patterns.
Daniela’s work is displayed throughout the town of Tofino in resorts, restaurants, and public lobbies, capturing a world wide audience. Her passion for interior design is evident in her custom mixed media installations. Daniela’s fascination with clay began in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico where she first learned traditional wheel techniques at Instituto Allende Art College. Furthering her education, she completed the Ceramics Program at Fleming College, Haliburton School of the Arts in 2005 in Ontario. She has since completed courses at the Metchosin School of the Arts on Vancouver Island in 2010, 2013, and 2015. Daniela is constantly searching to advance her education through workshops and international conferences in order to evolve with current trends in ceramic art and design.
Daniela is recognized as an asset to her community, having started a pottery school through her private studio. She has been teaching for the past 16 years offering diverse courses and workshops that influence adults, adolescents, and young children to create art. She is passionate about facilitating the creative process and sharing her love of clay with others.
